Wow. We're already here. I'm writing this before I start listening to it, so I don't spoil anything. Here's how it will work. I'll reveal a song, than talk about it, than reveal the next, and talk about that and so on, and when I get to the end, I'll put the whole list. So here we go.
#45: Demi Lovato - Tell Me You Love Me
Wow. This one’s good. Demi shows off her voice well. This one is super enjoyable, and I'm glad it made it to the top 45 of the year, even if it is the bottom spot. I love the use of the trumpets, and the message behind it. This could very possibly end up in my top 45 of this year.
#44: Halsey - Alone
This one’s okay. I'm not a huge fan of Halsey anyways, but I expected this to hit this, because it was super big. I just don't think it was that good. Meh, oh well.
#43: MAX/Gnash - Lights Down Low
I remember getting tired of this one. Well, guess what! I like it again! MAX just has a great voice, and the rapping section actually adds a lot to the song. The only reason I got bored of this in the first place, was because that was the era where I listened to Hits 1 on all my free time, and it got overplayed. But it's good again.
#42: Kelly Clarkson - Love So Soft
Not her best, but it's a super fun tune that's great to dance too. It's super cool, it's just not a very strong song. But, I enjoy it a fair amount.
#41: Dua Lipa - New Rules
Yeah, I know this was Dua Lipa’s start, and don't hate me, but I just don't really like Dua Lipa. This one, I don't hate as much as IDGAF or One Kiss (Which I'm pretty sure is gonna make this list at one point or another.) So, I'll give it a blue pass.
#40: The Chainsmokers/Emily Warren - Side Effects
This one’s pretty good. I just don't like it as much as This Feeling and I think that's the killer. This song was green, like right up to the point where This Feeling debuted. That's okay, though. I'm actually happy this one made it.
#39: Portugal. The Man - Feel It Still
This one’s a really good upbeat song and I'm super happy I got to revisit it. I got tired of it right before it left, but I'm good because I heard it less. (This is probably going to be the case for a lot of them.) So, yeah. Good song.
#38: Bebe Rexha - I'm A Mess
Yes. I know this song just got demoted to blue on the Weekend Countdown, but I'm looking at these songs in retrospective, so this one is really good and I enjoy it a lot. I'm glad to see it do so well this year, considering it wasn't going to debut.
#37: Dua Lipa - IDGAF
You’re kidding. Three Dua Lipa songs in this. I just don't enjoy any of them. This one is pretty bad. I don't like how it's just like, an F-Bomb in the chorus every time. It's just boring, and there's really not much to it.
#36: Foster The People - Sit Next To Me
Another boring song with nothing to it. I wish they would make more songs like Pumped Up Kicks and less like this. I hate when it just goes AAAAAAAAAH a million times. I just wish this one didn't do as well as it did.
#35: Charlie Puth/Kehlani - Done For Me
This is Charlie’s best song off of Voicenotes. Done For Me is great and deserved more success than it got. Both Charlie and Kehlani sound great here. This song is just great. Also the last chorus is perfect in every way.
#34: Marshmello/Bastille - Happier
This is a great song. One of the best of this year. I'm so glad it got success everywhere. Bastille sounds great. Marshmello has never been better. I hope this stays for a while, and possibly to the top 45 of 2019 too.
#33: G-Eazy/Halsey - Him & I
Good song about commitment when their relationship lasted like a month. I saw them perform this live, and it was nauseating. This song is just kind of boring, but whatever. I like how it says 2017 when it made the 2018 year-end list.
#32: The Weeknd/Kendrick Lamar - Pray For Me
This is a great song. Also a good movie. If you haven't seen Black Panther, I suggest you do. It's good. Anyways, I really like this song. They also incorporated a lot of elements from the movie in this song alone, which is super cool.
#31: Imagine Dragons - Natural
Their lead single from Origins. And an awesome single, at that. The best song from it. (Aside from Bad Liar) Natural is a super solid song. A little more screamy than I like, but whatever.
#30: Maroon 5/Cardi B - Girls Like You
If you look up the definition of “overplayed”, this song song shows up. I used to really like this song, but it faded on me ridiculously fast. I just really don't like it now.
#29: Backstreet Boys - Don’t Go Breaking My Heart
You know everything I just said about Girls Like You? Everything applies here, but worse.
#28: Selena Gomez/Marshmello - Wolves
Another quality Marshmello song. This is a little worse than Happier, but hey! This was Marshmello’s very first hit. I was surprised he was gonna make it this far. Well, there's a first time for everything, and this was a great start for him,
#27: Macklemore/Kesha - Good Old Days
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS SONG!!! Both Macklemore and Kesha sound absolutely pitch-perfect in this song. This is both of their best song ever. I adore this song, and it has the greatest message ever. I'm so happy it got this much success, and I wish it would have gotten even more. Good run, Good Old Days.
#26: Ariana Grande - No Tears Left To Cry
This song’s okay. I prefer Breathin’ a lot more, but it's still pretty good. It’s honestly super catchy, but it just got pretty boring.
#25: NOTD/Bea Miller - I Wanna Know
Ach. This is just a really bad song. It's been on the countdown for too long. I've heard too much of it. I can't take it. I CAN’T TAKE IT!!!
#24: Khalid/Normani - Love Lies
Yeah. I like this song. Even if it never hit #1, it got ridiculously close. I'm glad it got success, though. It's a good song. One of Khalid’s best. (Eastside is the best.) But, it's still really good.
#23: Camila Cabello - Havana
I really like this one. It's super fun. It's a great song and definitely Camila’s best. But the next one…
#22: Camila Cabello - Never Be The Same
This is a disgrace. Havana was much better than this. I can't believe it. This one is just annoying. Camila sounds terrible in this one. I'm also confused why they replaced “Heroine, Morphine” with “Brushing me, Touching me” they still kept “Nicotine” that's a drug. I don't get it. I DON’T GET IT!!! I'm sorry. I've been doing a lot of yelling today.
#21: 5 Seconds Of Summer - Want You Back
Please note I'm trying to write these as I'm listening to them, I would write more, but I don't want to write after, and spoil it. Anyways, this is a pretty solid song. A lot better than Youngblood which I'm certain scored higher than this, but whatever.
#20: Marshmello/Anne-Marie - Friends
As you guys probably know, I'm a huge Marshmello and Anne-Marie fan, so this should be great for me. Unfortunately, I think that's what saved it from being red. I just don't enjoy it that much. The only thing I really like is the vocals.
#19: Charlie Puth - How Long
This one’s okay. Not as good as Done For Me, but still pretty enjoyable. I like it, but it's just not great, and there's not much to talk about.
#18: Niall Horan - On The Loose
Again, this is another boring one with not much to talk about, so I'm just gonna skip it.
#17: Shawn Mendes - In My Blood
We are getting so close to the top 15. And this is where the songs start getting very popular. In my opinion, it's not Shawn’s best, but it shows off Shawn’s voice really well, so it gets a blue pass.
#16: Lauv - I Like Me Better
This was not a good start for Lauv. I like songs like There's No Way better. This one is just super annoying and bad. His voice is just very scratchy and not very good.
#15: Selena Gomez - Back To You
Why does this have to hit the top 15? It faded on me pretty fast too, and I've just had enough of it. I have nothing else to say. It's a good song, but I just don't like it anymore.
#14: Fall Out Boy - The Last Of The Real Ones
I really like this one. This is definitely one of F.O.B.’s best. They're just perfect on this track. From their “album” M A N I A, this is definitely the best. It deserved all the success it got.
#13: Imagine Dragons - Thunder
I thought this was more of a 2017 song, but that's okay because this song, now that I think about it, was pretty big in 2018 too. It's a pretty good song off of Evolve, and I think it did well as it probably leaves Hits 1 for a very long time.
#12: Halsey - Bad At Love
Meh. I don't really like this one that much. NEXT!!!
#11: Maroon 5 - Wait
Wait. Can we go back to the last one? This one’s just really not good. It gets annoying. Definitely not Maroon 5’s best.
#10: Walk The Moon - One Foot
This song’s actually really good. It's upbeat and the chorus is great. This is another song that I got tired of, but now I like it again. This is Walk The Moon’s best. I've heard Shut Up And Dance way too many times, and this one’s honestly just a lot more enjoyable.
#9: Bebe Rexha/Florida Georgia Line - Meant To Be
Normally, I don't really like Florida Georgia Line, but this song is just great. I love how Florida Georgia Line and Bebe sound together, and this song just shows it so well. I definitely agree when everyone says this was the biggest pop/country crossover of the year.
#8: Taylor Swift - Delicate
This song I just got kind of tired of it pretty quickly. It's super calm, and doesn't have a lot to it. I get that this was Taylor’s biggest song off of Reputation, and probably her last, but I just much more prefer the upbeat tracks on that album, but again, this is Taylor Swift, so I'll give it another blue pass.
#7: Hailee Steinfeld/Alesso/Florida Georgia Line/Watt - Let Me Go
This is another good Florida Georgia Line song. You have to keep in mind that this is EDM too, so that could be why I like it. But, overall this is just a really great song and I totally get why this hit #7.
#6: Ed Sheeran - Perfect
I absolutely love this song. It is so beautiful, and I'm so glad it hit this high on the list. It is a great song, and in my opinion, almost the best Ed Sheeran song ever. This song is just perfect. And when it reaches the last little bit, Ed just shows off his voice so well. This is an unforgettable song, that I will like for a really long time.
#5: 5 Seconds Of Summer - Youngblood
Wow, that's a lot of 5s. Rounding out the top 5, we have a not so great song. It didn't deserve as much success as it did, and if it got a little less success, I think I would have liked it a bit more,
#4: Panic! At The Disco - High Hopes
Sad. I wish this would have hit #1. I mean, with 8 weeks at #1, you think it would have beat the next few songs, but I guess it was a little late to be too big of a hit. Especially since it's just becoming a hit everywhere else now. But, that's okay. This is a great song, and I'm glad it made it this high. Now I just hope Say Amen hits #1 and not The Middle.
#3: Panic! At The Disco - Say Amen (Saturday Night)
Okay, well I was wrong, but that's okay. This song is still great and I'm super satisfied with the amount of success Panic! got this year, because they’re great. I hope their next album gets even more hits,
#2: Imagine Dragons - Whatever It Takes
You guys know how much I love Imagine Dragons, but this one just left the countdown and I think I need a little time to like it again. That's okay, though, I'm satisfied with how high this one hit. But the next one, oh no…
#1: Zedd/Maren Morris/Grey - The Middle
WHY!? This song is just bad!!! I wish it didn't get as much success as it got!!! I'm so disappointed. I can't believe this. This is just terrible. Oh, well. I'm gonna go cool down and announce my top 45 of 2018, which will probably come out in like, the next week or so. Anyways, here's the entire list
